I received my PhD in Technical Communication and Rhetoric from Texas Tech University. I currently teach a variety of courses as an adjunct professor, including persuasion in society, writing in the professions, principles of mass media, professional report writing, and rhetorical and analytical writing. In addition, in my previous corporate position I served as the Vice President of Content for Mortgage Success Source.
My research has been published in Rhetoric Review, Communication Yearbook, Qualitative Research Reports in Communication (QRRC), JAC, and Business Communication Quarterly, as well as industry publications such as Intercom and YOU magazine.
Broadly speaking, my research interests focus on the discourse surrounding controversial national and international issues. That general interest breaks down into four specific topics: apologetic rhetoric and society, rhetoric of genocide and reconciliation, ethics in communication, and theories of qualitative research. Those topics relate to (and are of interest to anyone with a passion for) corporate communication, political rhetoric, government affairs, international relations, peace studies, civic writing, advocacy, public relations, and even pop culture.
If you’re interested in these topics and would like to learn more about my research or discuss these ideas with me, please take a look at my contact information. You can also review my teaching philosophy.
